You have a great site, everything looks good and are running smoothly but you have no
visitors, sure the first thing to do is to submit the whole site to all
the search engines out there, then you might start telling
all your friends about it and maybe put the URL in your e-mail signature and on your
business card if you got one.... But then what? The only visitors that you will get is the
people you know and those who have searched for it, wouldn't it be very cool if you got in
touch with the average surfer that never even heard of you?
Banner Exchange is the answer. It's very simple: You display banners
from another websites wich takes part in the same banner exchange on your website. You
just paste a bit of HTML code on the pages you want to place the banner - and other sites
display your banner with a link to you!

A very good banner exchange network that offers very good filtering
and targeting of the banners. The unique thing with Link Buddies is that you will always
receive bonus credits, 500 credits just for joining and then 7 credits for each day that
your site is active. They also have a great referral-program, and the members-section is
very good! I really recommend Link Buddies!
Click Agents are most known for their pay per click banners but they also got a
banner exchange network with a very good ratio. You can also choose the "mixed
program" that allows you to be in both the pay per click program and the banner
exchange, so now you can make money while getting more traffic at the same time.
A quite unique idea that might be great for some webmasters, since
it is based on clickthrus and not views. If your current banner have a low CTR and you
still want to use it this is the company to choose. One thing that I really like is that
you can show small buttons (88x31 pixels) instead of large banners, wich is very useful
sometimes!
Click2Net is an OK banner-exchange program, wich gives you 3 credits
if someone clicks on the link wich is on your page and the usual 2:1 ratio. As
the pay per click program, Click2Net have a great
members-section. A really cool feature that I haven't seen anywhere else is that you can
have 10 own banners rotated.
**UPDATE** Is this
banner exchange network closed down? I can't find any links on their main website anymore,
and the image is dead (atleast it was the 24th February). I haven't received a mail from
them about this, so I don't know...
A smaller banner exchange network with two different kind of
memberships, the only thing that actually is different between them is that as a
Smartmember you get a bar (that can be annoying) under the banner and can earn bonus and
referral credits if someone clicks on it. In the future they will offer multiple banners
and targeting. Like Click2Net you get more credits if a visitor clicks on a banner located
on your site(s). All new members gets 1000 free bannerviews!

I haven´t been a member of this banner exchange so long, but the
1:1 ratio looks very interesting. They got some targeting and filtering options but will
not offer any bonus or referral programs since they believe that the 1:1 ratio is enough,
and it probably is.
Linkexchange is the biggest exchange network on the net. They have more than ˝-million
members, so there are plenty of other sites to trade with... You get a lot of stats, wich
is very good - but my click-through rate in Linkexchange isn't good, and it seems like
this is the situation for many other webmasters too. Maby Linkexchange is to big? Another
funny thing was that when I submitted my banner the first time - they wouldn't let me into
their network before I had removed all the other banners from my site! That's weird, since
my site is about banners... However, I resubmitted it some days later, and since there was
another person who reviewed the site the 2nd time - everythi was great!
Hyperbanner has a lot of categories and countries you can have your
banner placed in. Hyperbanner are even available in Norwegian, my own language, and I
haven't seen a lot of those... So this might be the network to choose if you have a
homepage in a language other than English. But this isn't the one to choose if you have
an English homepage: their banners is java-based, so they are slower and eats more CPU
than normal GIFs.
A standard banner exchange network that offers a new way of
targeting called Smart Targeting, that according to them will give your
banners the highest CTR. It may work for you, but many other webmasters I have spoken to
tells me that they have a low CTR with Smart Clicks. I haven't used Smart Clicks for more
than a month or so, so I still don't know exactly...

EIS offers a lot of alternatives for banner placements and targets,
but a lot of things seems too unprofessional - like the member pages. They are very hard
to navigate and hard too understand. You can choose the new 468x60 standard banner size,
but since almost every member still uses the old 400x50 one (wich is their standard size),
most of the banners only gets resized (look below yourself).
